Same with two handed swords. Clubs and stuff work fine against light armor, but they bounce off metal gear. Chainmail does little to blunt a mace blow, but it can turn aside a slashing weapon.

I really like that it gives a good reason for having so many weapons. It'd be neat if, for instance, smart players carried long reach weapons for fighting big humanoids like ogres, a spear to handle mounted foes, that kind of thing.

It introduces a new dynamic that both varies fights and encourages players to think about gear in a new way.Mike Mearlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18338840534913321057noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963408603037048958.post-19035268624062521422008-10-27T13:28:00.000-07:002008-10-27T13:28:00.000-07:00I just found my 1e DMG, still one of the best book...I just found my 1e DMG, still one of the best books ever, even though I still have trouble with the psionics charts :)B.G.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00137446244222744473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963408603037048958.post-90791444475697448122008-10-27T09:04:00.000-07:002008-10-27T09:04:00.000-07:00The 1E DMG should be required reading for any Dung...The 1E DMG should be required reading for any Dungeon Master of any edition.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15438343352645254462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963408603037048958.post-80660624651142470792008-10-26T15:23:00.000-07:002008-10-26T15:23:00.000-07:00For some reason, this really strikes me as James W...For some reason, this really strikes me as James Wyatt as the Chuck Norris of D&D...Geek's Dream Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16734848972647684773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6963408603037048958.post-20790867606166465492008-10-26T12:31:00.000-07:002008-10-26T12:31:00.000-07:00Doesn't that kind of tweaking remind you of people...Doesn't that kind of tweaking remind you of people take a dozen types of weapons in 3E? Or does it differ because the advantage here is a small tweak in how often you can hit them, rather than a severe reduction in how much damage you do?MikeLemmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05874230620805088547noreply@blogger.com
