I really like most of 4E, but there are a few things that bug me that I'm thinking of making houserules to address. I hate to ask this here, but would you mind looking at one of my houserule ideas and tell me what you think?Bull Rush only allows you to move Small, Medium, or Large creatures 1 square. However, there's a plethora of forced movement powers that let you move creatures a certain number of squares independent of their size (usually more than 1 at that). It seems strange to me that Martial characters could move around Gargantuan dragons just as easily as they could Small goblins. My idea now is to give Huge creatures the Dwarf's "Stand Your Ground" racial feature and Gargantuan creatures a version of the same feature that reduces forced movement by two. I don't think it would be fair to penalize mundane forced movement powers and leave supernatural forced movement powers untouched, so this rule would affect all forms of forced movement against Huge and Gargantuan creatures. I actually think I'd prefer -2 forced movement for Huge creatures and -4 for Gargantuan, but I'm afraid that might be too much in terms of mechanics.
I'm thinking that the difference here is that the forced movement powers are addressing various different kinds of movement. Bull's Rush is pretty straight forward - slam into something and knock it backwards. Other forced movement include things like the enemy being afflicted by visions and staggering around or futilely chasing the rogue or something. A closer look at the flavor text will often give you a better idea of of what type of force movement is really being addressed, and have a major impact on the size ranges that it makes sense for. Based on my martial arts and sports experiences, I'd much rather trip a big guy than hit him chest-to-chest.
